Canvas courses are exported as an .imscc file, also called a Common Cartridge. In some instances of course copying and setting up courses, importing a common cartridge is needed.
Step 1.
Click Settings in the left navigation bar.
Step 2.
Click Import Course Content from the top right-hand.
Step 3.
Select “Common Cartridge 1.x Package” under content type.
Step 4.
Click Choose File under Source and then select your .imscc file.
Step 5.
Select All content or select specific content. You can also adjust due dates as needed. When done click Import.
You will see a progress bar that should take less than a minute to fill, and then the following completion screen. Issues related to security parameters can be safely disregarded because our App should be set up at the system level.
There will be a message about Completed 1 issues. To adjust for Canvas adding in an extra App (Third Party LTI Provider) within the course, go to Settings -> Apps -> ViewApp Configurations and locate the App definition that does NOT have a lock symbol next to it - delete this App configuration as it’s redundant and may cause issues within the course.
Step 6.
Go to Modules in the left-hand navigation section and begin using your course materials!
** The following instructions are for configuring the Follett-Willo Delivery Tool as an LTI Tool Provider at an enterprise level within a Canvas instance.
Step 7.
Log into Canvas as an Administrator, then go to the Admin tab and select the account that the school's courses will be located under.
Note: You may have one or more accounts on your site.
Step 8.
Select Settings from the left navigation menu.
Step 9.
Select the Apps tab
Step 10.
Select the View App Configurations button.
Step 11.
Click on + App
Step 12.
Populate the External Tool form with the values provided by Follett-Willo.
Step 13.
Click Save Tool Settings.
